Bridal Checklist: Key Items to Remember

So it's finally time to tie the knot. That's great! However, in all the excitement of the moment, it can be easy to forget that you actually need to plan your wedding. Here's a quick bridal checklist of what to do and when for some of the biggest details.

Work Out A Budget

Start planning what your budget looks like, taking your own finances into consideration alongside contributions from friends and family. This is the first step necessary for building the rest of the plan—you can't do anything else without money!

Pick Your Party and Your Guest List

Getting this done early helps planning logistics later. On top of that, the sooner people are in your wedding party, the sooner they can help you. Finally, it will take some stress off your shoulders: you won't have people asking you constantly if they're in the party or not.

Get Photographers and Videographers Ready

Look around for photography and video services you can trust to capture the precious moments of the big day forever. This should have a prominent place on your bridal planning checklist.

Look at Catering

Depending on the scale and size of your wedding, you may have a lot of people to feed. Discuss with potential caterers what you're looking for and the total number of people you'll be providing food for.

Buy the Dress!

With many of the logistical issues out of the way, it's time to pick up a wedding dress. Don't make the decision too quickly, though, and make use of multiple fittings to make sure you get a size you're comfortable in. This is the most important entry on the bridal beauty checklist.

Select, Prepare, and Mail Invitations

Every part of this process can be surprisingly time-consuming, so it may be worthwhile to budget for someone else to the heavy lifting (addressing envelopes, writing out invites) on your behalf.

Order the Cake

Baking a wedding cake can take a long time, and bakeries are usually booked out well in advance, so expect this to take some time and make sure they know when you need the cake itself.

Create a List of Who is Giving Speeches/Toasts

Despite what you may have seen in movies, speech making is not usually spur of the moment. Plan ahead of time who will get to speak and in what order.

Prepare Favors/Gifts

If you're giving something to your guests, make sure you have enough for the number of guests you've planned for.

Go Over Everything Again!

Make sure you have everything you need and double check with vendors that they are on schedule. Make sure everyone in your wedding party knows their what they'll be doing and when they'll arrive. This is your chance to make sure everything is set, so make sure you use it wisely.
